Étrépagny / Lyons-la-Forêt La voie des Légendes

After Étrépagny, you cross the agricultural plains of Vexin Normand on small roads, before reaching the commune of Longchamps. A small detour through the village of Heudicourt will allow you to discover its castle and park. Leaving Morgny, the bike route enters the forest of Lyons, one of the largest beech groves in Europe. Take a break at the arboretum where the National Forestry Office preserves remarkable species from around the world. Now, head towards Mortemer Abbey via the small forest road! Stop at Sainte-Catherine’s fountain, where, according to legend, unmarried girls can make their dearest wishes and hope to be rewarded within the year! A few meters further, you will see the romantic ruins of Mortemer Abbey, which still hold many mysteries… On full moon nights, Matilda the Empress, granddaughter of William the Conqueror, is said to haunt the abbey as a White Lady. Guaranteed chills. After a sporty climb, the route descends to Lyons-la-Forêt, a picturesque village.
